S. Peter's London Docks
Good Shepherd Chapel
The chapel was named after the Mission Chapel which served the people of Wapping from 1857 to the consecration of S. Peter's in 1866.

The Good Shepherd Chapel

The Daily Mass started in this Chapel in 1866. When the cholera swept through East London that year the priests, sisters and lay assistants gathered at this altar each morning for Mass before they went out to care for the sick and the bereaved.

The Daily Mass is still offered here.

Above the reredos are the lower sections of the Miss MEA Rope windows, showing Sister Catherine SC in front of the destroyed Mission House, Fr Leutchford celebrating Mass in an air raid shelter and Fr Lowder holding a model of the Good Shepherd Mission.
