S. Peter's London Docks Church of England J & I School

Garnet Street

London E1

Within days of the foundation of the mission in Wapping in 1856 children had been brought together in the Clergy House to learn to read and write. There have been ragged schools, Infant schools, Senior Schools and the S. Agnes Mission classes for those who never went to school.

The present school is integral to the life of the parish. It is a school with history and tradition preparing todays children for tomorrow. With the appointment of our former Head-teacher Mr John Shannon BEd MA to the london Diocesan Board for Schools, we are seeking to appoint a new Head who will continue and extend this tradition.

There is a close relationship between Church and School. Assembly is taken by the Clergy twice each week, RE in year five is taught, in part by the clergy and every Thursday morning during term the School day starts at S. Peter's Church for the School Mass. At this Mass, which is always sung, children serve, read and participate in the theme of the Mass.
